My Oops Moment

The world's largest ice cream cake gets divied up after setting the new world record.

Oops moments seem to be all the rage these days, so here’s mine. I completely missed a new world record for the largest ice cream cake. It happened in May of this year in Toronto, Canada. The Chinese were the previous record holders. In 2006, the Baxi Ice Cream Factory created an ice cream cake that was 15.75 feet in length, 10 feet in width, over 3 feet tall and around 8 tons.

The Canadian winner came in at just over 11 tons with over 20,000 pounds of ice cream, 200 pounds of sponge cake, and more than 300 pounds of OREO crumble and icing. The cake took just over 14 hours to make with fork lifts moving large pallets of the cake onto its platform. I want to congratulate our northern neighbors for their new record and apologize to my readers for missing this huge achievement in the ice cream world.

Yep! But I’ll just stay focused on breaking “taste” records instead of size records.
