I’ve always been enamored with people who can take an old idea and update it in a clever way. So I tip my hat to the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society for their concept to raise funds for their association. They took the tried and true concept of the ice cream truck and created an aquatic version of it.
In 2009, the association launched the Buckeye Lake ice cream boat. The boat cruises up and down Ohio’s Buckeye Lake selling a variety of ice cream treats to visitors and residents. The boat was generously donated by a local marine center, fixed up and decorated with flags, flowers and ice cream cones. Decorations aren’t limited to the boat. The boat’s pilots, Mr. Braig and Mr. Klinger, also dress up in wigs, hats and masks.
The boat even comes with speakers to play the music letting everyone on the lake know the ice cream boat is there.
