It wasn’t too long ago that I blogged about ice cream inspired works of art ranging from sculptures to clothing to furniture. It appears that some artistic types have taken this ice cream as art one step further and used ice cream as their artistic medium.
Art students from Central Michigan University decided to create a “Bug Sundae.” They covered a Volkswagen Beetle in ice cream, chocolate syrup and other sundae toppings. The students then licked the “sundae” off the car. Thankfully, they received extra credit.
In New York City, artist Meredith Allen uses melting ice cream as her art. She has photographed various ice cream characters dripping on what appears to be her hand. There’s a melting Bugs Bunny, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Smiley Face, Mickey Mouse and iconic characters. While I must admit, I don’t quite get the meaning behind these pieces, something about them makes me smile.
My all time favorite has to be a recreation of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. This version incorporates melted chocolate ice cream on a white dinner plate. I don’t know who the artist is, but I admire the creativity.
