If you are like most people who inhabit the northern hemisphere, this special season just doesn’t seem right without some snow, or, at the very least, cold weather.
The same can’t be said for those in the southern hemisphere. In places like South America, Africa and Australia, it’s summer. Which means it’s hot and muggy. Which means it’s their peak ice cream season. So, how does one combine this special season with ice cream? If you live in countries that were once part of the British Empire, you make Christmas Ice Cream Pudding.
Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans have taken the traditional English Christmas Pudding and have added ice cream. While I have found a variety of ways to make this dish, the one ingredient consistent to all recipes is — you guessed it — ice cream.
Try your hand at making this delicious holiday treat this Christmas. If you do, send me some pictures. I’d love to see the results.
