First, a correction. I recently blogged that Peter Barham held the record for making a liter of ice cream in just 18.78 seconds. That record has recently been shattered by Andrew Ross of the United Kingdom. On June 6, 2010, Andrew made a liter of ice cream in 10.34 seconds. Coincidentally, 10.34 seconds is about the time it takes me to open a carton of ice cream.
Just one month before Andrew’s accomplishment, a large group of people in Rock Island, Illinois set a record for the most people licking ice cream at once. The 2,694 people assembled on April 20 at Augustana College to beat the record of 2,500 that was set in Spain just one year earlier. The world record was part of the college’s 150th anniversary.
Congratulations to Augustana College on their 150th Anniversary and their new world record.
